Welcome to Episode 172 of The Endless Growth Podcast!

This week, Alex gives an update on life after training at his new job, while Edgar talks about one of those days where absolutely nothing goes according to plan. Between learning how to cold call finance executives, surviving Salt Lake traffic, shopping for mattresses at 30, and wondering what might be hiding at the bottom of Pineview Reservoir, this episode goes in plenty of unexpected directions.

The episode kicks off with Alex sharing what it has been like finally getting out of training and working independently. He explains why he learns better by putting in real reps, making mistakes, and adjusting along the way instead of sitting through hours of training modules. That leads to a deeper conversation about using AI to build better workflows, asking stronger questions, and why getting good at sales requires being willing to sound bad before you sound confident.

Later, the guys realize turning 30 apparently means spending weekends comparing couches, bed frames, and mattresses. Alex explains why mattress shopping feels like a scam, what makes a good salesperson stand out, and why choosing the right bed becomes much more complicated when two people have completely different preferences.

As always, the conversation keeps moving. The guys revisit the time Alex accidentally camped on private property and woke up surrounded by hunters with crossbows, talk about failed water skiing attempts at Bear Lake, and discuss plans to drain Pineview Reservoir for repairs. Naturally, that leads to theories about sunken boats, hidden valuables, metal detectors, and the YouTube video they could make searching the bottom.

The episode wraps up with Fourth of July drone shows, F-16 flyovers, Salt Lake's crowded gyms, impossible parking, two-hour waits for ramen, and the growing realization that city life comes with just as many frustrations as conveniences.

Whether you’re starting a new job, learning through trial and error, adjusting to city life, or officially reaching the age where mattresses become interesting, Episode 172 has something for you.
